Orchcha or Orcha or Orchha was founded in 16th Century by the Bundela Chieftain, Rudra Pratap Singh. The main historical sites are the Jehangir Mahal, Raj Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Laxmi Narayan Temple and the Chaturbhuj Temple. Orchha means 'hidden', and this ancient town is situated 16 kms away from Jhansi, on the banks of the river Betwa in the state of Madhya Pradesh, is surrounded by charming hills and greenery. This small village was once the capital of the region ( Bundelkhand). How to reach Orchcha ?
Air - Nearest airport Gwalior (120 km), connected to Delhi, Bhopal, Indore, and Bombay. Khajuraho (170 km) is connected to Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi.
Rail - Nearest railhead is Jhansi (16 km) which is on the mainline from Delhi-Bombay and Delhi-Madras.All major express and mail trains stop here.
Road - Orchha lies on Jhansi-Khajuraho road. Regular bus service connects Orchha with Jhansi. Autorickshaws are available on hire from Jhansi to all the tourist spots.
